Job summary

Goodwill San Antonio is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Associate to perform grass cutting, trimming, edging, and basic landscaping while ensuring safety and efficiency. You will also greet customers and respond to questions in a friendly, professional manner.

A valid driver’s license is required; experience in grounds maintenance and knowledge of hand and power tools are preferred. This is a full-time, on-site role with opportunities to grow within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Cut grass to specific requirements using a push mower.
• Remove grass clippings, trash, and debris from work site and dispose of trash at collection point.
• Operate grass/weed trimmer in areas not accessible to mowers.
• Trim hedges and shrubs and edge sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and other surfaced areas.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions.

Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCut grass to specific requirements using a push mower.Remove grass clippings, trash, and debris from work site, and dispose of trash at collection point.Use grass/weed trimmer in areas (not accessible to riding or push mowers) such as slopes, canals, ditches, rough terrain, ramps, or drop-offs; may also be required to clean ramp areas, both over and under.Operate backpack blower to clear surfaced areas.Trim hedges and shrubs and edge sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and other surfaced areas.Remove vines from fences and maintain fence lines cleared of new growth.Clean tools, working areas, and vehicles; perform basic service maintenance by following manufacturer’s directions before and after use of all equipment; conduct thorough inspection to assure safe use of equipment.Follow all Federal, State, and Agency safety requirements; wear safety equipment; follow the proper use of equipment according to the manufacturer’s directions; exercise extreme caution when changing directions on slopes to ensure maintaining balance while carrying and operating equipment.Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.REQUIREMENTSMust have a current, valid driver's license.Experience Preferred: 6+ months of experience performing similar work. Basic knowledge of and skilled in using various landscaping hand and power tools.Skills: Reading and comprehension skills.
