LUMA Energy ServCo, LLC is seeking an experienced network design engineer to plan and implement IP and optical transport networks. You will architect high-performance systems, define component specifications, and coordinate with field staff to ensure scalable, secure infrastructure.

The role focuses on performance optimization, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with policies and industry standards, with travel to support projects as needed.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, information systems or related field.
• 5 years of experience designing, planning, and implementing IP and Telecom traffic infrastructure.
• Experience testing technology products in a lab environment.
• Experience and knowledge in optical and transmission systems is preferred.
• Experience using network modeling tools is preferred.

• Delivers training and guidance to stakeholders to enhance understanding and adoption of best practices.
• Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.
• Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
• Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Job Summary

Additional Job Description

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, information systems or related field from an accredited university.

Experience

• 5 years of experience designing, planning, and implementing IP and Telecom traffic infrastructure.
• Experience testing technology products in a lab environment.
• Experience and knowledge in optical and transmission systems engineering is preferred.
• Experience using network modeling tools is preferred.

Competencies (Skills)

• Knowledge in cyber security to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
• Deep understanding of IP networking protocols (TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, etc.), network design principles (topology, routing, QoS), and Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies.
• Working knowledge of network hardware, software, and standards‑based protocols, including IP/Ethernet, OTN, DWDM, and optical fiber systems.
• Understanding of legacy and modern transport technologies, including SONET, TDM, circuit emulation, and converged packet/optical systems
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, preferably in English and Spanish (read, speak, and write).

Licenses/Certifications

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
