Job summary

Salt Lake Community College seeks a dependable Test Proctor to welcome candidates, verify IDs, administer exams, and monitor testing sessions. This role requires professionalism, confidentiality, and strong communication, with AM and PM shifts throughout the week.

The proctor works with students, instructors and staff to maintain a secure testing environment, manage materials, and use College systems (Banner) to look up information and enforce policies.

Qualifications

  • Greet tester and verify ID.
  • Provide instructions to students regarding their test.
  • Seat candidates and launch tests.
  • Proctor tests with video surveillance.
  • Maintain testing area cleanliness and order.
  • Answer phones and operate office equipment.
  • Protect confidential information and follow policies.
  • Look up student information in Banner.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all visitors.
  • Assist departmental staff with other duties as needed.

Job description

Under limited supervision, the Test Proctor’s responsibilities include welcoming and checking in test candidates, verifying ID, and administering a variety of exams. The proctor also monitors candidates during testing. The proctor works and interacts effectively with students, instructors, and College staff to create a secure, efficient and courteous testing environment.


AM SHIFT


MONDAY - THURSDAY: 8:00 AM TO 2:00 PM and FRIDAY 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM


PM SHIFT


MONDAY - THURSDAY: 2:00 PM TO 8:00 PM and FRIDAY 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM


* EXCEPTIONS: Close at 9:00 pm during FINALS, close at 5:00 pm in-between semesters.



  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Knowledge of College policies, procedures, operations, and information system helpful.

  • Greet tester and verify ID

  • Provide instructions to student regarding his/her test

  • Proctor test, including monitoring candidate via video surveillance

  • Maintain the cleanliness of testing area

  • Work with and protect confidential information

  • Operate electronic mail and messaging systems

  • Accurately organize and file test materials in both paper and electronic formats

  • Look up student and other information in College Information System (Banner)

  • Enforce required policies and procedures firmly and courteously

  • Provide accurate and consistent information in a clear and articulatemanner

  • Provide excellent customer service to all visitors to the testing center

  • Assist departmental personnel with other duties as needed

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College

  • Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities


High School Diploma or Equivalent



  • 1 Year of College

  • 1 Year office, reception, or customer service experience

  • Experience working with confidential information

  • Familiarity with SLCC a plus
