LUMA Energy in Puerto Rico seeks a Safety Professional to implement and oversee safety programs across field operations, ensuring OSHA compliance and a strong safety culture. You will collaborate with internal teams to prevent incidents and drive continual safety improvements.

Implements safety policies, procedures, and Contractor Health and Safety Program to ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable regulations across field and contractor operations. Coordinates field‑based safety efforts with internal teams to reinforce safety culture and drive continual improvement in incident and injury prevention.
Job Description:
Providesexpertisein field safety operations to support the development and implementation of effective solutions.
Evaluates field and contractor operations by inspecting workplace environments, equipment, and practices to verify regulatory and policy compliance, andmonitorsthe effectiveness of safety programs, systems, and training to ensure alignment and drive continuous improvement.
Corroborates incident investigations by conducting andfacilitatingroot‑cause analyses, implementing corrective actions, and reviewing contractor investigations tovalidatefindings and corrective measures.
Supports contractor safety initiatives involving injury prevention, task assessment, safety communication, and regulatory compliance, andmaintainseffective relationships with employees, supervisors, officials, and contractors to reinforce a strong safety culture across field operations.
Coordinates with regional and contractor safety leadership to execute safety strategies that support continuous improvement in safety performance.
Develops training materials such as manuals, guides, and visual resources while evaluating safety training needs and gaps among field crews and delivering targeted training and guidance to strengthen stakeholder understanding and adoption of best practices.
Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.
Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
Performsadditionaltasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Education
Experience
In lieu of the education mentioned above:
5 years of Safety and Utility Industry experience,
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local safety law, and
5 years of Vegetation Management experience, preferred.
Required:
5 years of experience with functional role responsibilities, and working with data collection,analysisand interpretation.
Experience working with documents, policies, SOPcreationand implementation.
Experience leading or collaborating with small projects.
Experienceas matter-expert and asset resource to provide support to internal/external clients.
Additionalexperience may substitute for required education when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:
Associate’s degree inSafety Management, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences or Engineeringmay substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of experience performing similar functions and at least 5 years of experience performinga previousSpecialist role.
High School or equivalent (GED) when accompanied by a minimum of 10 years of experience performing similar functions described and at least 8 years of experience performinga previousSpecialist role.
