  • Collaborate with Director of Constituent Engagement to translate strategy into CRM builds.
  • Write and produce digital donor communications, including emails, acknowledgments, and upgrade appeals.
  • Support development of donor stewardship content to deepen connections.

Position Summary: The Specialist, Donor Engagement & CRM plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in growing Unity's community of givers. This position is responsible for the technical build, execution, and performance reporting of Unity's lower and mid-level donor development program — from the moment someone makes their first gift through their journey toward major donor status. Using Virtuous CRM as the primary platform, this specialist designs and manages automated donor journeys, builds audience segments, executes digital communications, and delivers the data insights that drive program strategy.This is a detail-oriented, systems-minded role for someone who finds meaning in the infrastructure behind meaningful relationships — and who takes pride in helping donors feel seen, valued, and connected to a mission they care about.You are a systems thinker with a heart for mission. You understand that behind every donor relationship is a series of thoughtful, well-timed touchpoints — and you take pride in building the infrastructure that makes those moments possible. You're equally comfortable in a CRM configuration window and a Word doc drafting an email, and you care about the person on the other end of every communication you send.Essential Job Functions:Virtuous CRM & Donor Journey ManagementBuild, manage, and optimize automated donor journeys within Virtuous CRM, including welcome sequences, upgrade asks, lapsed donor re-engagement, and milestone-based communications.Configure triggers, workflows, and segmentation logic to deliver timely, personalized constituent experiences across email and other digital channels.Maintain data hygiene within Virtuous CRM, including list management, tagging, deduplication, and constituent record accuracy.Collaborate with the Director of Constituent Engagement to translate mid-level donor development strategy into technical CRM builds.Digital Donor Communications within VirtuousWrite and produce digital donor communications including email campaigns, automated touchpoints, acknowledgment messaging, and upgrade appeals.Ensure all communications are on-brand, aligned with Unity's voice, and optimized for engagement and conversion.Coordinate with the Communications and Design teams to source or create assets needed for donor-facing campaigns.Support the development of donor stewardship content that deepens connection and moves constituents toward greater giving levels.Mid-Level Giving Program SupportSupport the build and ongoing execution of Unity's lower and mid-level donor program, helping to establish processes and communication cadences from the ground up.Monitor donor behavior and giving patterns to identify constituents who may be ready for an upgrade ask or major gift qualification.Maintain accurate records of donor engagement, giving history, and communication touchpoints to support handoff to the major gifts team at the appropriate threshold.Assist in developing and refining donor segments, including first-time donors, recurring donors, lapsed donors, Circle of Friends, and upgrade-ready constituentsDonation Page DevelopmentBuild and maintain campaign-specific donation pages within Virtuous designed to inspire action through impact-driven storytelling.Write or collaborate on donation page copy that connects the donor's gift to a tangible outcome — centering story, mission, and the human impact of giving.Partner with the Communications and Design teams to develop compelling visuals, testimonials, and narrative elements that bring each campaign to life on the page.Ensure donation pages are optimized for conversion — clear calls to action, intuitive giving levels, and a seamless donor experience from landing to confirmation.Build and manage campaign-specific thank-you and confirmation messaging that reinforces the donor's impact and strengthens retention.Test and iterate on page elements including headlines, imagery, giving amount suggestions, and layout to continuously improve performance.Reporting & AnalyticsProduce regular performance reports on donor program KPIs including acquisition, retention, upgrade rates, and revenue by segment.Build and maintain LYBUNT (Last Year But Unfortunately Not This Year) and SYBUNT (Some Year But Unfortunately Not This Year) reports to support lapsed donor re-engagement strategy.Track email performance metrics including open rate, click rate, conversion, and unsubscribes, and use data to recommend optimizations.Prepare reporting summaries for the Director of Constituent Engagement and cross-functional stakeholders on a regular cadence.Cross-Functional Collaboration & GeneralWork collaboratively with Philanthropy, Direct Response, Outreach, Customer Care and Communications teams to ensure donor engagement efforts are coordinated and on-strategy.Use project management tools to track campaign timelines, dependencies, and deliverables.Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Digital Communications, or a related field.
