Job summary

Signature Health, Inc. seeks a Specialist, Crisis Intervention to provide rapid response and early intervention for behavioral health crises in community, home, and facility settings.

Under the Program Manager, Crisis Services, this role performs de-escalation, problem-solving, and care coordination, with follow-up to support safe transitions back to the community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• QBHS designation or PSS with at least 1 year of substance use/mental health experience; 2 years in recovery.
• Must possess a valid unencumbered Ohio driver�s license.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of the local Mental Health System.
• Basic computer skills (email, EHR, MS Office, ADP, and related software).
• Basic electronic communication and internet skills for program information.

Responsibilities

• Provides de-escalation and crisis intervention to individuals in crisis.
• Assists in arranging assessment and treatment in appropriate settings.
• Engages with families and support systems in safety planning and crisis resolution.
• Creates an immediate safety plan.
• Coordinates care and links to treatment services.
• Performs follow-up within two business days after a crisis episode.
• Collaborates with agency staff and referral sources on cases, fostering community relationships.
• Participates in clinical, administrative, and supervisory meetings.
• Maintains administrative and clinical files and reports.
• Completes trainings as assigned.
• Represents Signature Health professionally and adheres to dress code and respectful interactions.

SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Program Manager, Crisis Services, the Specialist, Crisis Intervention provides rapid response, screening, and early intervention to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis in community, home, and facility settings.

HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED

• Provides de-escalation and crisis intervention to individuals experiencing crisis.
• Works with individuals in crisis to problem-solve and identify solutions for resolving the crisis or assists in arranging assessment and treatment in an appropriate setting.
• Works with individuals' family members and support system to engage in safety planning and the crisis resolution process.
• Assists in creation of an immediate plan to maintain safety.
• Provides coordination of care and linking to appropriate treatment services to meet the needs of the individual.
• Provides follow up contact within two business days (or according to protocol) following a crisis episode to individuals returning to their community setting to check on referrals and identify further needs.
• Collaborates with agency staff, departmental staff, stakeholders, and referral sources on individual cases and to ensure strong community relationships.
• Participates in clinical, administrative, and supervisory meetings.
• Maintains administrative and clinical files, reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence.
• Complete trainings as assigned.
• Always represents Signature Health in a professional manner; includes maintenance of appropriate professional appearance as outlined in the dress code policy, and demonstration of respectful interactions with patients and team members.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma required.
• Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist (QBHS) designation or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) with at least one year of experience in substance use and mental health with minimum 2 years in recovery and plan for maintaining recovery is required. Crisis experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid unencumbered Ohio driver's license.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the local Mental Health System.
• Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, email, time sheet management, electronic health records, using Microsoft Office Applications, ADP and other relevant software.
• Must have basic electronic communication and internet skills to gather information required for the program or program participants.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including community, home, and facilities.
• Work involves potential exposure to patients experiencing agitation, which may increase risk for disruptive or aggressive behavior.
• Flexibility to work evenings and extended hours is required.
• Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
• Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
• Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
• Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
• Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
• Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
• Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
