Job summary

Metrocare Services is seeking a Crisis Intervention Specialist to join an inter-disciplinary treatment team delivering intensive, community-based crisis support for individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental illness.

You will train caregivers, advocate for needs, and provide crisis interventions to stabilize clients while coordinating with LIDDA and other partners in the continuum of care.

Qualifications

• Masters or Doctorate in Psychology, ABA, Social Work, or related field.
• 1–3 years supervised experience in providing behavior services to individuals with IDD.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with LIDDA to identify individuals at-risk of or actively in crisis.
• Completes biopsychosocial assessments to understand crisis behaviors and determine needs.
• Creates crisis intervention plans outlining therapeutic interventions and supports.
• Implements crisis intervention plans with the consumer, caregivers, and support team.
• Provides crisis support services to assigned caseload to support stabilization and crisis prevention.
• Provides active crisis management services as needed.
• Assists individuals/caregivers in identifying and advocating for additional services.
• Collaborates with LIDDA to connect individuals with appropriate services.
• Documents interactions and progress of consumers served.
• Attends and documents all team meetings pertaining to their care.
• Provides consultation services for internal departments, schools, hospitals, and external agencies.
• Provides on-call crisis support per rotation schedule.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Crisis Intervention Specialist will work with an inter-disciplinary treatment team providing intensive, community-based crisis support services to consumers with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental illness. This individual will provide therapeutic interventions to IDD individuals at risk of or actively in crisis, train their caregivers and staff, and advocate for their needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborates with LIDDA to identify individuals at-risk of or actively in crisis.
• Completes in-depth biopsychosocial assessments for all consumers served to understand crisis behaviors and determine their needs.
• Creates crisis intervention plans outlining therapeutic interventions and supports needed by the consumer.
• Implements crisis intervention plans with the consumer, their caregivers, and support team members.
• Provides crisis support services (community-based intervention and training) to assigned caseload to support with stabilization and crisis prevention.
• Provides active crisis management services as need.
• Assists individuals and/or caregivers served in identifying and advocating for additional services and supports.
• Collaborates with LIDDA to connect individuals served with appropriate services and supports.
• Ensures planned services and supports are implemented and appropriately documented.
• Documents interactions and progress of consumers served thoroughly.
• Attends and documents all team meetings pertaining to their care.
• Provides consultation services for internal departments, schools, hospitals, criminal justice systems, external agencies, and day habilitation/vocational workshops as requested.
• Provides on-call crisis support per rotation schedule.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Experience

• Masters or Doctorate Degree in the field of Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Social Work, or other related field.
• One to three years of supervised experience in providing behavior services to individuals with intellectual and development disabilities.

Mathematical Skills

• Basic math skills required.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Computer Skills

• Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to utilize Internet for resources.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
• Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
• Valid license as a Psychologist, Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or other clinical field preferred.
