Description

Auberle, a nationally recognized human service organization, seeks a Certified Peer Support Specialist for a full-time position. Our organization serves 4,000 individuals and families annually across Western PA, operating over 20 programs with a focus on building an equitable and inclusive environment.

The Certified Peer Support Specialist will be part of the MIYA Program, which provides mobile services to youth transitioning out of social services into the community, focusing on individuals aged 18-25 with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.

The role involves modeling recovery, providing expertise in recovery-oriented practices, assisting with life skills, and supporting clients in achieving their personal goals, working closely with their families and supports.

Key Objectives

  • Model recovery and coping skills through relationship building.
  • Offer consultation to team members on recovery practices and client perspectives.
  • Provide planning and assistance with tools like WRAP and Mental Health Advance Directives, and support social and life skills activities.
  • Work autonomously, using judgment in crisis situations, with support from clinical staff when needed.
Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be aged 18-25 with lived experience of mental health, behavioral health, substance use, or trauma, including homelessness or abuse; willingness to disclose peer status.
  • Must have or obtain Peer Specialist Certification within 6 months of hire (training supported by Auberle).
  • Progressed in recovery and comfortable sharing personal recovery story.
  • Understanding of client readiness for change and recovery principles.
  • Supportive of trauma-informed care systems.
  • Basic knowledge of mental health and co-occurring disorders.
  • Effective engagement skills, strong work ethic, flexibility, and eagerness to learn.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
  • Clearances (ACT 33/34, FBI), and drug testing as applicable.
