Medical Education Learning Specialist

Position Summary

Michigan State University College of Human Medicine’s Office of Academic Achievement invites applicants for the position of Academic Specialist-Advisor (also known as a Medical Education Learning Specialist). The College of Human Medicine was founded as an innovative educational program embracing new but now widely adopted ideas like community-based education and problem-based learning across eight campuses.

Reporting to the Director of Academic Achievement, this position will develop and facilitate programs, services, and resources that support student retention, academic success, and individualized support throughout the Shared Discovery Curriculum.

The position is in Grand Rapids, Michigan but may require travel to other sites. The position is remote-friendly. This Academic Specialist-Advisor position is a one-year appointment, renewable annually based on performance and funding availability.

Professional Misconduct Review

Nothing will be sent to current or former employers unless the candidate reaches the semi-finalist stage.

The University will assess the history, including any information provided by the candidate, in determining whether it is compatible with the position. The University may decline to hire a candidate based on the professional misconduct review. All records obtained from external employers will be kept in a secure location, separate from personnel files. If an applicant fails to sign the authorization and release, the application will be deemed incomplete and will be withdrawn.
