Job summary

Town of Barnstable seeks a dedicated professional to liaise between domestic violence victims and law enforcement, providing crisis intervention, advocacy, and referrals. The role includes community outreach and education on DV issues, plus regular court accompaniment and administrative duties.

Experience in victim advocacy and knowledge of the criminal justice system are essential, with a DV counseling certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or social work required.
• Three years of related work in domestic violence and victim advocacy/outreach, or seven years of related experience.
• Domestic Violence Counseling Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between domestic violence victims and the Police Department.
• Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, victim support and referrals.
• Conduct community outreach and education on domestic violence issues.
• Provide regular court accompaniment and handle related administrative tasks.
• Serve as advocate and liaison for victim/witnesses of other serious crimes.
