  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection documentation.
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials.
  • Prepare inspection reports and support material acceptance decisions.

Salary Range: $120,000.00 To $150,000.00 Annually

Kundlas Consulting Group LLC is a professional consulting firm specializing in construction inspection and compliance services for public infrastructure projects. Our core services include on-site inspection of roadway, bridge, and utility construction to ensure adherence to engineering specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements. We support clients with daily reporting, materials testing coordination, schedule tracking, and quality assurance oversight. Additional services include project management, grants management for federally funded infrastructure and disaster recovery programs.

About the Role:

The Special Track Inspector will perform technical inspections of special track work and related track materials manufactured for MTA/NYCT projects. This role requires experience with railroad and transit track components, dimensional inspections, quality assurance procedures, and applicable industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of experience in one or more of the following: special track in-depth inspections; quality assurance; railroad or transit track inspection and layout systems; or a special track work manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of AWS and ASNT inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous castings and forgings, when applicable.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or a related field.
  • High proficiency in special track and metallurgical inspections.
  • Experience inspecting switch points, turnouts, crossovers, frogs, and other special track components.
  • Knowledge of AREMA, ASTM, ASME, SAE, AWS, MIL, and Authority specifications.
Responsibilities:
  • Inspect special track work manufactured to Authority drawings and specifications.
  • Verify precise dimensions, clearances, and quality requirements.
  • Inspect track materials, including nuts, bolts, washers, steel fastener plates, shims, clips, screw spikes, and related components.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection documentation.
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials.
  • Prepare inspection reports and support material acceptance decisions.
Skills:

Special track inspection, dimensional inspection, quality assurance, blueprint reading, metallurgical inspection, AWS and ASNT knowledge, railroad and transit materials inspection, technical reporting, and attention to detail.
