Job summary

The Dallas Business Journal is seeking a detail-oriented special projects editor to lead our awards publication and other special projects while contributing to daily digital coverage and the weekly print edition.

The role requires a driven journalist who can manage large-scale projects independently, collaborate with the editing team, and adapt to a fast-paced newsroom, with a focus on showcasing the human element of business news in North Texas.

Qualifications

• Digital writing and publishing skills.
• Ability to manage several projects at once.
• Creative planner who embraces ambitious engagement metrics without sacrificing attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and work in a collaborative, high-energy environment.
• Excellent headline-writing and copy-editing skills.
• Knowledge of Texas and the Dallas-Fort Worth area is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee DBJ's special reports, including awards, growth summits, etc.
• Represent DBJ newsroom in coordinating with events team
• Interact with and interview North Texas CEOs and business leaders
• Aid rest of editing team with publishing of digital and print coverage
• Work with editors, reporters and other stakeholders to to complete current special projects and also plan and execute new ones

Job description

The Dallas Business Journal is looking for a detail-oriented journalist to join our team as a special projects editor.

A critical member of the editing team, the special projects editor oversees our awards publication and other special projects, in addition to contributing to our daily digital news coverage and weekly print edition.

The ideal candidate is a driven and curious journalist who wants to highlight the crucial human element of business news. A successful special projects editor will be adept at managing large-scale projects independently but also be able to collaborate with the rest of the editing team. Candidates should be eager to jump into a fast-paced newsroom andinterested in other facets of our editorial operation.
