Job summary

TP Mechanical, LLC. seeks a sheet metal/HVAC Superintendent to oversee field operations, read blueprints, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and ensure safety and quality. You will lead, delegate, and mentor workers while maintaining schedules and budgets on projects.

Qualifications

• 5 years commercial sheet metal/HVAC field experience.

• Willing to obtain additional trade licenses.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, install and repair sheet metal and duct systems.
• Assist with installation of HVAC equipment; install hangars or supports.
• Perform field fabrication and schedule setup.
• Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules.
• Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work.
• Inspect work in progress and completed work for conformance to contract and specs.
• Reads blueprints and interprets specifications.
• Attend jobsite and office meetings as required.
• Keeps equipment in good working order and ensures maintenance is performed.
• Meet the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers.
• Keep superintendent or project manager aware of issues affecting production.
• Coach and mentor lower-echelon workers to develop skills.

Should be able to accept directions and/or lead and delegate the work if necessary. Focus on safety and safety practices first and foremost at all task inceptions.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Coordinate, install and/or repair sheet metal and/or duct systems.
• Assists with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as necessary. Install hangars or supports for HVAC systems.
• Perform field fabrication of sheet metal and/or duct systems and set up the specific task or project schedule.
• Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules, using own knowledge of equipment and lower-level personnel capacities.
• Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption.
• Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification.
• Reads blueprints and interprets specifications.
• Correct punch-list items and make distribution as required.
• Attend, as required, all jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects.
• Keeps equipment in good working order and insures proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment.
• Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met.
• Keep the superintendent or project manager aware of all issues affecting production and schedule.
• Serve as a coach and mentor to lower echelon to help them develop and improve their skills and increase their technical knowledge.
• Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other sheet metal workers. Emphasize commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes int eh be interests of the company.
• Organizes work and utilizes preplanning such as the four weeks look ahead schedule.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Experience

Experience/Qualifications Required:

• 5 years commercial experience of sheet metal/HVAC in field operations.
• Prior shop experience a plus.
• Stable work history.

Job Skills

• Ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of sheet metal/HVAC installation.
• Ability to fabricate offsets.
• Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
• Able to do take-offs.
• Able to install equipment.
• Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.

Education

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Journeyman license a plus.
• Trade School a plus.
• Willing to obtain additional trade licenses and/or certifications.

Physical Requirements

• Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
• Able to work long hours on feet.
• Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
• Able to perform shift work.
• Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must not be afraid of heights.

Special Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must provide own basic hand tools.
• OSHA 10 Construction Industry.
