Job summary

New Orleans City Park is seeking a Full-Time Special Projects Attendant in New Orleans, LA. The role focuses on keeping park grounds clean, addressing debris, vandalism, and assisting with special projects assigned by the city park team.

Essential duties include litter removal, shelter maintenance, pressure washing, Dog Park upkeep, equipment care, and signage replacement. Must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Louisiana driver’s license. Flexible schedule may be required.

Responsibilities

• Removal of large, unusual litter and debris from park grounds.
• Maintenance and cleaning of shelters and event spaces.
• Pressure washing of surfaces, playgrounds, benches, and other areas to remove gum and vandalism.
• Maintenance of the Dog Park, gutters, and routine tasks.
• Maintenance of Special Projects equipment and vehicles.
• Drain and catch basin cleaning and maintenance ahead of bad weather.
• Assist with large machinery for debris removal and rock spreading.
• Repair and replacement of signage around the park.
• Collaborate with Arborist, Irrigation, Horticulture, and other teams as needed.

Summary : The Special Projects Attendant position is mainly responsible for keeping the park grounds free of various trash and debris, vandalism, and dead animals, as well as taking on any other special projects that may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned

• Removal of all large, unusual litter, which includes tree branches, tires, dead animals, furniture, car parts and any other unwanted debris that is left on park grounds.
• Cleaning and maintenance of all shelters, and event spaces ahead of rented events.
• Pressure washing of surfaces, playgrounds, benches, and any other areas as needed to remove gum, vandalism, and other unwanted substances.
• Cleaning and maintenance of Dog Park, including pressure washing surfaces, cleaning hair out of the gutters, refilling dog poop bags, and any other routine tasks.
• Cleaning and maintenance of Special Projects equipment and vehicles.
• Cleaning out of drains and catch basins, as needed and ahead of inclement weather.
• Assists with the use of larger machinery such as tractors,front-end loaders, and skid steers for large debris removals, spreading rock, and other projects.
• Fixing, removal, and replacement of signage around the park.
• Assistsother teams within the department with simple jobs such as tree spotting for the Arborist, trench digging for the Irrigation Specialist, transportation of plants or materials for the Horticulture team, etc.
• Assistsother teams outside the department with special tasks such as putting up lights for CITO or putting out barricades, etc.

Shift is Wednesday - Sunday, 6:30 am - 3:30 p.m. Weekend work is required. There may be additional overtime opportunities when permitted. Grounds positions may work special events with approved overtime.
Full time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week.
