Block by Block is hiring Special Projects Ambassadors to keep city spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. The role involves outdoor duty, active movement, and strong people skills in a fast-paced environment.

Pay starts at $17.00 per hour for 2nd shift with weekend requirements. Experience with cleaning equipment and a valid driver's license are essential, and you’ll be supported with weather gear for outdoor work.

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver's license with clean MVR.
Must have the physical capacity to stand and move continuously during an eight-hour shift with breaks.
All outdoor work; inclement weather gear provided.
Weekend availability required.
Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

Circulate through assigned work zones performing manual and/or mechanical cleaning.
Operate large hot water power unit to clean sidewalks, plazas, or street furniture.
Operate large litter vacuums to sweep up litter, debris or leaves.
Maintain a visible, friendly presence and engage with people in the public space.
Use a simple smartphone app to report activities and maintenance.

All About Being a Special Projects Ambassador

Block by Block is looking for people who like working outdoors, staying active, and feeling a sense of accomplishment while improving some of your city's most important public spaces. Special Project Ambassadors are often like the local caretakers in the public spaces they serve because they:

Professionally represent not only us, but our customers, and they realize we're highly visible and operate in one of our cities' most important fish bowls.
Help the public see that the space we serve is well cared for, leading to more return visits and sharing positive experiences.
Take ownership of every person's experience in the public space, whether it's a visitor, resident, worker or member of the street population.

As a Special Projects Ambassador, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will likely include the following responsibilities:

Circulate through assigned work zones in the work area completing manual and/or mechanical cleaning of needed items or spaces.

Operate large hot water power unit to clean sidewalks or plazas, street furniture, or any other areas in need of deep cleaning.

Operation of large litter vacuums to sweep up litter, debris or leaves.

Staying Visible, and Be Really Friendly: Our job is to not only clean, but to be a visible presence and have friendly interactions with the people in the public space we serve

Ongoing Reporting: Be comfortable using our simple smart phone app to report normal activities and maintenance reports

You like working outdoors! (we provide inclement weather gear) All of our work is performed outside.
