Job summary

Switch is seeking a Data Center Special Projects Project Manager to lead retrofit, upgrade and expansion projects within operating data centers. You will plan, execute and deliver construction outcomes while protecting live operations and maintaining reliability.

You will coordinate with diverse teams, manage budgets and schedules, enforce safety standards, and ensure work follows MOPs/SOPs. This role supports installation and commissioning of critical infrastructure and requires flexibility for

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data center project management or mission critical operations.
• Experience with contractor management and safety standards.
• Budget, scheduling and change order management experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage special projects from initiation through closeout.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules and budgets aligned to business priorities.
• Oversee contractor safety performance and enforce site safety standards.
• Conduct safety walks and include safety reporting in project updates.
• Supervise on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with Operations to schedule work during maintenance windows or low impact periods.
• Ensure all work follows approved MOPs and SOPs.
• Identify project risks early and implement mitigation plans.
• Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders and cost documentation; provide updates to leadership.
• Support installation and commissioning of electrical, mechanical and network infrastructure.

The Role Data Center Special Projects Project Manager

As a Data Center Special Projects Project Manager you will lead retrofit upgrade and expansion projects within operating data centers You are accountable for planning execution safety budget control and schedule performance This role requires careful coordination to protect live operations while delivering construction outcomes Your work directly impacts facility reliability customer experience and infrastructure performance

What Youll Do

• Plan and manage special projects from initiation through closeout
• Develop detailed project plans schedules and budgets aligned to business priorities
• Oversee contractor safety performance and enforce site safety standards

What Youll Bring

Required

• 5 years of experience in data center project management or mission critical operations
• Working knowledge of electrical mechanical and IT infrastructure in data center environments
• Experience managing contractors in active construction or retrofit environments
• Experience managing project budgets schedules and change orders
• Strong understanding of construction management processes and methods
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights or weekends based on project needs

Preferred

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management Project Management or a related field or equivalent experience
• Experience using Procore or similar construction management software
• Working knowledge of CAD or 3D modeling tools
