The Role: Data Center Assistant Construction Manager

As a Data Center Assistant Construction Manager at Switch, you will be part of a world‑class team that operates in excellence, delivering mission‑critical solutions that redefine what’s possible in AI, cloud and enterprise data center needs. Your work will directly impact the future of technology and the sustainable growth of the Internet.

You will play a pivotal role in the successful planning, execution, and completion of various projects within the organization. Working closely with the Project Manager/Construction Manager, cross‑functional teams, you will contribute to project design, development, and management, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with quality standards.

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and requirements. Develop detailed project plans, including tasks, timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Identify potential risks and devise mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the design and development phases of projects. Review technical drawings, specifications, and blueprints to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and designers to optimize project designs.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure optimal project execution.
  • Monitor and manage resource utilization to avoid overruns or shortages.
  • Oversee project activities and ensure adherence to schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Monitor project performance and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to verify compliance.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Monitor risk factors and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain clear and regular communication with stakeholders regarding project progress, challenges, and milestones.
  • Generate timely and accurate project reports, highlighting key metrics and performance indicators.
  • Create and maintain project documentation, including technical documentation, progress reports, and change orders. Compile documentation for regulatory and compliance purposes.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with cost consultants/control teams to track costs and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Conduct post‑project evaluations to gather insights for future enhancements.
  • Drive next‑level innovation in Construction to support our mission‑critical infrastructure.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Design, Architecture, Engineering, etc. preferred or 2 years of experience as a project engineer, engaged in project coordination, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating construction projects from preconstruction to completion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple construction projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to engage and provide clear direction with contractors, vendors, and other departments.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Ability to influence and partner with executive leadership to drive strategy and execution.
  • Experience fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to balance long‑term vision with operational execution.
