Job summary

Adams 12 Five Star Schools in Thornton, CO seeks a dedicated paraprofessional to assist students in Specialized Programs, provide academic support, monitor behaviors, and help with life skills in a Title I designated school.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, must be 18+, and may require additional paraprofessional credentials. Training for IEPs and CPI may be provided, with a strong emphasis on student health, safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
• Must meet one of the following requirements: AA or 2-year college degree, OR passing of state CDE approved paraprofessional examination, OR complete Personal Commitment Plan to meet requirements within a defined timeline.
• Willing to work with students receiving special education services (training opportunities provided).

Responsibilities

• Provide support in general education setting in order for students to fully participate in class activities.
• Assist students in Specialized Programs by tutoring, adapting work and monitoring and enforcing social and acceptable behavior.
• May assist with administering testing or assessments, may assist with homework.
• Implement specialized therapy programs; work directly with therapists on physical progress and Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
