Job summary

Atrium Health Cabarrus is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist to assist in invasive angio and interventional procedures in the IR suite. Responsibilities include surgical scrub, circulation, total patient care during and after procedures.

Qualifications include ARRT radiologic tech certification and RCIS/CPR; interventional experience preferred. 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, with on‑call requirements and sign-on bonus eligibility for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of ARRT-recognized radiologic technology program.
  • Certification by ARRT or RCIS; CPR certification required.
  • Experience in Interventional Radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiography and fluoroscopic coverage under physician direction.
  • Explain procedures to patients and prep for procedures.
  • Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast as directed.
  • Circulate during procedures and maintain patient comfort.
  • Provide supplies for invasive procedures.
  • Remove catheters/sheaths and apply pressure as needed.
  • Document hemodynamic and contrast records accurately.
  • Communicate equipment issues to leadership for repairs.

Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology Technologist assists in the various invasive angio and interventional procedures performed in the Interventional Radiology Suite. Responsible for surgical scrub and circulation duties, performing total patient care during and post the procedure, while the patient is in the Interventional Radiology area.

Major Responsibilities
  • Performs specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage of interventional and angiographic procedures under the direction of a physician.
  • Explains the procedure to the patient and preps the patient for the procedure.
  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
  • Circulates during the procedure and maintains responsibility for patient comfort.
  • Provides supplies necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
  • Removes catheters/sheaths and applies direct pressure or clamp as appropriate.
  • Provides necessary report information to the holding area or nursing unit as needed.
  • Records and processes hemodynamic reports, contrast media records and charges promptly and accurately.
  • Communicates equipment malfunctions to leadership or department engineer for repairs.
Minimum Job Requirements

Education:

Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes in Radiologic Technology. Completion of an accredited Radiology Interventional Program required or an ARRT/RCIS graduate from a Cardiovascular Interventional Training Program.

Certification / License:

Registered and certified by the ARRT or RCIS required. CPR certification required.

Work Experience:

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Must meet all required elements of competency checklist for level.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions:

Requires standing and walking while wearing 10 to 15-pound lead radiation protection aprons. Exposure to radiation, secretions and blood. Confined working area. Normal vision, manual dexterity and good eye and hand coordination is necessary to operate equipment. Constant concentration required during procedures.

Preferred Job Requirements

Education:

1 year in diagnostic and 1 year in Interventional Radiology preferred.

Certification / License:

ACLS preferred.
