Job summary

Danbury Hospital, part of Northwell Health, seeks an Interventional Radiology Technologist to assist physicians in procedures and acquire diagnostic X-rays and angiographs as ordered by referring physicians. You will verify orders, enter patient demographics, explain procedures, and record isotope dosages.

Responsibility includes patient monitoring, radiation protection, supplies management, charting, scheduling, and compliance with departmental protocols.

Qualifications

• HS Grad or Equivalent required.
• Minimum three years experience in radiology.
• Credentials: ARRT and RAD.
• Desirable: BLS and ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Takes quality diagnostic images and verifies physicians orders.
• Assists/scrubs with radiologist using universal precautions.
• Explains procedure to patient and answers questions.
• Administers and records isotope dosage.
• Monitors patient during procedure and ensures radiation protection.
• Orders supplies/inventory; stocks all supplies daily.
• Charts patients accounts accurately.
• Accurately schedules Interventional Procedures.
• Monitors radiographic quality for optimum diagnosis.
• Performs CME functions prior to dictation.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

Assists physicians in interventional procedures and takes x-rays and angiographs as ordered by referring physicians under state and registry guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Takes quality diagnostic images. Verifies physicians orders, enters patient's demographics and evaluates film.
• Assists/scrubs with radiologist utilizing universal precautions at all times.
• Explains procedure to patient and answers any questions.
• Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol.
• Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Ensures radiation protection for patient.
• Orders supplies/inventory. Stocks all supplies on a daily basis.
• Charts patients accounts accurately.
• Accurately schedules Interventional Procedures.
• Monitors radiographic quality for optimum diagnosis ensuring all films have the proper identification.
• Performs all CME functions prior to submitting case for dictation.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
