Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist at Community Medical Center in New Jersey. You will support cardiac, vascular, neurological, and device-related procedures, assist during cath lab interventions, and ensure safe, efficient workflows with a multidisciplinary team.

Required credentials include NJ licensure, ARRT registration, and radiologic technology training; BLS is mandatory and ACLS/Dysrhythmia are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey.
  • Registered with ARRT.
  • BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider course completion is required.
  • ACLS certification is preferred, along with completion of a Dysrhythmia course.
  • Successful completion of all required orientation programs is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for interventional procedures and assist physicians during procedures.
  • Support safe and efficient procedural workflows within the cardiac catheter lab.
  • Maintain a safe, organized procedural environment and adhere to policies and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, technologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in unit quality improvement activities to improve patient safety and outcomes.
  • Maintain required clinical competencies, certifications, and professional qualifications.
  • Respond to on-call needs with a 30-minute response time during weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Interventional Radiology Technologist – RWJBarnabas Health

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with physicians and multidisciplinary teams during cardiac, vascular, neurological, and device-related procedures. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will prepare patients, assist physicians during procedures, support safe and efficient procedural workflows, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. A typical day for an Interventional Radiology Technologist may include:
  • Preparing patients for cardiac, vascular, neurological, and other interventional procedures while providing compassionate, age-appropriate care
  • Assisting physicians during cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), peripheral angiograms and interventions, permanent pacemaker procedures, and neurological angiograms and interventions
  • Applying knowledge of radiologic technology and interventional procedures to support physicians and the multidisciplinary procedural team
  • Maintaining a safe and organized procedural environment while following established hospital policies, clinical standards, and safety protocols
  • Using an understanding of human growth and development to provide treatment and care appropriate to the patient's age and individual needs
  • Monitoring patients throughout procedures and communicating relevant observations or changes in condition to the appropriate members of the healthcare team
  • Supporting efficient procedural workflows by ensuring patients, equipment, supplies, and procedural areas are appropriately prepared
  • Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to promote safe and effective patient care
  • Participating in unit Quality Improvement activities and contributing to initiatives designed to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, and departmental efficiency
  • Maintaining required clinical competencies, certifications, and professional qualifications
  • Completing all required orientation programs and demonstrating competency in assigned responsibilities
  • Participating in weeknight, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage as required, with a 30-minute response time
  • Remaining prepared to respond to urgent procedural needs during assigned on-call periods
