Job summary

UKG is seeking a Specials Technologist to maintain high-quality patient care in the Specials department and throughout the organization. Responsibilities include assisting during interventional procedures, documenting orders, and educating patients.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT registration, and BLS/ACLS within 6 months. Cardiac cath experience preferred or willingness to cross-train for shared lab, with Virginia pay transparency observed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program (ARRT registered preferred).
• Experience as a registered technologist; cardiac cath experience preferred or willingness to cross-train for shared lab.
• BLS Certification within 6 months.
• ACLS Certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Follows protocols and procedures meeting department standards.
• Works with radiology nurse and radiologists during interventional procedures and angiograms.
• Uses Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and document contrast media reactions.
• Reviews patient charts for physician's orders and follows written/verbal protocols.
• Reports equipment malfunctions and low inventory to supervisor.
• Uses hospital system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, or credits.
• Educates patient and family regarding exam, treatment, and outcome.
• Practices radiation safety in accordance with department policies and keeps exposure ALARA.
• Performs visual preventative safety inspections and reports hazardous conditions.
• Maintains professional appearance and etiquette and flexible scheduling as needed.
• Optimizes patient flow and scheduling add-ons.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

Job Summary

The Specials Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care in the Specials department and throughout the organization.

• Follows protocols and procedures meeting department standards.
• Works closely with the radiology nurse and radiologists performing interventional procedures and angiograms.
• Utilizes assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions.
• Reviews patients charts for confirmation of physician's orders and follows written or/and verbal protocols and instructions.
• Communicates equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to appropriate supervisor.
• Utilizes hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, or credits.
• Educates patient and family regarding exam, treatment, and outcome.
• Practices radiation safety according to department policies.
• Follows NRC and State regulations for radiation safety and keeps exposure "ALARA".
• Performs visual preventative safety inspections and reports dangerous department or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel.
• Presents self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
• Demonstrates commitment to flexibility in schedule when necessary to ensure patient care.
• Uses schedule to maximum efficiency, maintains patient flow, and scheduling add-ons.

Education

Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.

Experience: Previous experience as a registered technologist. Preferred Cardiac Cath experience and/or willingness to cross train for shared lab.

• ARRT Registered.
• BLS Certification required within 6 months.
• ACLS Certification required within 6 months.
• Must have ability to achieve proficiency in job within three months.

Preferred

Associates or better in Radiologic Technology.
