Job summary

TriCorps is hiring Special Police Officers (SPOs) to protect personnel, visitors and property at facilities in Washington, DC. You will enforce access controls, conduct patrols, monitor CCTV and alarms, and provide escorts as needed.

A strong presence and professional conduct are essential to maintain safety and order on site.

Qualifications

• Valid DC Special Police Officer License issued by SOMB (required).
• Driver’s License (required).
• Current CPR Certification (required).
• Current MEB (Extendable Baton) Certification (required).
• 9mm Firearm Certification (required).
• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Enforce entrance control and screening to detect weapons and contraband.
• Conduct roving patrols to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor CCTV and alarms, maintain a visible security presence.
• Provide escort services for executives or designated individuals.
• Detain individuals attempting unauthorized access and preserve order.
• Prepare accurate incident and labor reports for on-site events.
• Maintain site rules, protect facilities, and coordinate with team.

Job Skills / Requirements

TriCorps Security is hiring professional and motivated Special Police Officers (SPOs) to join our team in Washington, D.C. Applicants must hold a valid DC Special Police Officer License issued by SOMB and demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and reliability.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of personnel, visitors, and property within assigned facilities. SPOs are responsible for enforcing access control, conducting patrols, and maintaining order while representing TriCorps with integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Perform entrance control: Enforce the building entry and identification system, including operating security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items. Inspect handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, wheelchairs, and other belongings as required.
• Conduct roving patrols: Patrol facilities and grounds in accordance with post orders to deter and detect unauthorized or suspicious activity.
• Perform stationary post duties: Maintain a visible security presence while monitoring CCTV systems, duress alarms, and other security technology.
• Provide escort services: When directed, escort executives, staff, or designated individuals to ensure their safety.
• Enforce law and order: Detain individuals attempting to gain unauthorized access or commit acts that threaten the safety of building personnel, property, or the public.
• Prepare reports and records: Accurately document incidents, labor hours, accidents, fire or bomb threats, and any unusual or unlawful acts occurring on site.
• Preserve order: Maintain a professional presence, enforce site rules and regulations, and protect facilities as circumstances require.
