  • Respond to major occurrences with speed and accuracy
  • Communicate with supervisors, client representatives, and emergency personnel
  • Complete End-of-Shift and electronic documentation
  • Perform other security-related duties as assigned

Position Overview

DC Special Police Officers (SPOs) are responsible for providing quality physical security at the client site . Officers must maintain a professional security presence, protect client personnel and property, and perform all duties in accordance with established procedures and Post Orders.

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • 60 or more completed college credit hours from an accredited college or university; or
  • Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Applicants who do not meet the minimum education requirement will not be considered for the position.

Applicants who indicate that they meet the education requirement must provide a college transcript for verification .

  • An official or unofficial transcript may be submitted for initial verification.
  • The transcript must clearly identify the educational institution and demonstrate the required completed college credits and/or degree.
  • Failure to provide a transcript when claiming education-based qualification will result in disqualification from consideration .
  • All educational credentials are subject to verification.
Required Computer Skills

Applicants must be proficient in:

  • Microsoft Word – Creating, formatting, editing, and completing professional reports.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint – Creating and reviewing presentations.
  • Adobe – Opening, reviewing, editing, and saving PDF documents.
  • Microsoft Windows – Basic navigation of the Windows operating system, files, and applications.
  • Electronic Reporting – Completing accurate End-of-Shift (EOS) reports and other required documentation.
Report Writing

Officers must be able to write clear, accurate, detailed, and professional reports . This includes documenting incidents, building activity, observations, actions taken, and other security-related events in a factual and organized manner.

Strong written communication, grammar, spelling, and attention to detail are required.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Following prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine and emergency responses.
  • Performing all assigned duties in accordance with Post Orders .
  • Patrolling the interior and exterior of the contract site.
  • Controlling and restricting access to the property.
  • Liaising with security personnel and building management to communicate, elevate, and resolve problems.
  • Monitoring and reporting suspicious activity, security concerns, and safety hazards.
  • Creating detailed reports concerning building activity, incidents, and security-related events.
  • Responding to major occurrences with intelligence, speed, and accuracy .
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors, client representatives, building management, emergency personnel, and other authorized individuals.
  • Completing all required End-of-Shift and other electronic documentation.
  • Performing other security-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Structure

All Supervisors report directly to the Project Manager.

Supervisors are responsible for overseeing assigned personnel and ensuring compliance with:

  • Standard Operating Procedures
