Barron Swim School in Ballwin, MO (and O'Fallon, MO) is seeking a Swim Abilities Teacher to bring our specialized program to life, helping children with autism, anxiety, motor challenges, sensory issues, or developmental delays feel safe and empowered in the water.

You will teach private lessons, adapt methods to each child, collaborate with the team, and contribute to a fast-paced, supportive environment that emphasizes safety, growth, and community impact.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students and families.

Job Description

As a Swim Abilities Teacher, you'll bring our specialized Swim Abilities curriculum to life, using the Swim Abilities Methodology to teach children with special needs—such as autism, anxiety, motor challenges, sensory issues, or developmental delays—how to feel safe, confident, and empowered in the water. Job Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety, creating a secure and nurturing environment for every student
• Deliver private swim lessons with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm, adapting to each child's unique needs
• Follow tailored lesson plans to help students progress toward group lessons when appropriate, celebrating milestones along the wayEngage with students using sensory, visual, and physical stimulation techniques to foster comfort and confidence

Physical Requirements

• Swim 30 feet with ease to lead by example
• Lift and transition students, from young children to high school age, weighing 50 lbs or more, to assist as needed
• Rely on sharp vision and hearing to keep every swimmer safe
• Thrive during 4+ hours in a chlorinated pool

Qualifications

• Passion for walking with children with special needs and a commitment to their growth
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students and families
• Previous experience in swim instruction, special education, or therapy-based roles is a plus
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse needs and learning styles
