Job summary

Lynchburg City Schools' Robert S Payne Elementary is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant to support a student under the IEP. This role assists with daily living activities, mobility, and classroom routines to help the student access learning.

The PCA works under certified staff, participates in trainings (CPR/First Aid), and supports safe bus arrival/departure, meals, field trips, and behavior plans while maintaining professionalism and compassion in a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 60+ college credits or ParaPro assessment required.
• Experience with children with special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the assigned student on and off the bus at arrival and departure times.
• Assists with personal care and daily living activities as outlined in the IEP.
• Supports feeding and meal supervision when needed.
• Monitors safety, behavior plans, and communicates with the nurse or administrator as required.
• Participates in field trips and school activities under direct supervision.
• Maintains confidentiality and collaborates with the education team.
