Job summary

Fulton County Schools in Atlanta, GA is seeking Transportation Assistants to support bus drivers and assist special needs students during loading, unloading, and transit. You will help secure wheelchairs and restraints, and assist with emergency procedures to keep riders safe.

Candidates must follow written and verbal instructions, communicate effectively with staff and families, and participate in safety trainings. Physical duties include lifting up to 40 pounds and handling mobility equipment.

Qualifications

• None required; experience with students with disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with loading and unloading students, including using a mechanical lift for wheelchairs.
• Secure wheelchairs, mobility aids, and child restraints to ensure safe transport.
• Assist in developing and following emergency procedures and evacuations.
• Maintain surveillance of students with special needs during transit and communicate needs.
• Report unsafe conditions to the bus driver and follow district policies.
• Support behavior management and communicate with staff, parents, and the public.
• Attend safety trainings and perform other duties as assigned.
