The Certified Teaching Assistant provides classroom support, assists students with learning activities, and helps prepare instructional materials in a center-based program for children with special needs, including autism spectrum disorders.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with special needs preschool population, including autism spectrum disorders, preferred.
• Positive attitude and adaptability essential.
• Comfortable following directions and implementing instructions.
• Flexible with respect to assignment, including one-to-one work.
• Able to respond appropriately to stressful, challenging, and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support to the teacher while assisting students with learning activities throughout the day.
• Assist teachers with development and preparation of instructional materials.
• Assume classroom leadership in the absence or direction of the Special Education Teacher.
