Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is partnering with a very small independent SEND school in Boston, Lincolnshire, to recruit a qualified Special Needs Teacher with primary training. You will focus on numeracy for 14–16 year olds with mild learning disabilities, teaching to KS1/KS2 objectives adapted for KS4, with planning time after 2:45pm.

The role is temp-to-perm, starts immediately, and offers dedicated consultant support and ongoing CPD opportunities through Luma Education Recruitment.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) or qualified teacher learning and skills (QTLS) required.
• Experience in primary teaching with a strength in maths or numeracy.
• Experience supporting pupils with learning disabilities or other SEN, or interest in SEND.
• Ability to adapt lessons for learners working well below their age.

Responsibilities

• Teach daily numeracy lessons built on KS1/KS2 objectives, made age-appropriate for KS4.
• Use practical activities (shopping, cooking, timetables, measuring) to make maths meaningful.
• Write and review targets linked to EHCP outcomes.
• Share planning with the literacy lead and guide classroom support staff.
• Support pupils through transitions in the day and help them settle if unsettled.
• Attend a weekly team meeting until 3:45pm.
