Job summary

The Arc of Palm Beach County is hiring a Special Needs Classroom Assistant in West Palm Beach, FL to support students with diverse learning needs. Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom instruction and help implement lesson plans and goals.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group behavioral and instructional support.
  • Assist students with daily living needs including toileting, feeding, hygiene, and mobility.
  • Help create a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Participate in program activities including CPR and First Aid training.
  • Support transportation needs, including riding on bus routes and driving agency vehicles as scheduled.
  • Assist with snack and meal times, including preparation and clean-up.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and reports.
  • Uphold confidentiality and follow all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to extended day programming by helping plan engaging daily activities.
  • Work collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff to foster student growth.

Salary Range: $16.50-$18.00

About The Role

As a Special Needs Classroom Assistant, you will work closely with special educators and therapists to support students in both their learning and daily care. You will provide one-on-one and small-group support, assist with classroom activities, and help students with personal care needs in a respectful, nurturing environment.

This position is hands-on, active, and deeply rewarding. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) background is a plus but not required.
