Begin a fulfilling career with the State of Indiana by joining one of the largest employers in the state, offering a range of opportunities across 60+ agencies. At the state, you'll find competitive compensation, a robust benefits package and a commitment to work-life balance. Most importantly, you'll have the chance to make a real and measurable impact on the lives of Hoosiers across Indiana.
FSSA was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 1991 to consolidate and better integrate the delivery of human services by state government. FSSA is a health care and social services funding agency. Ninety-four percent of the agency’s total budget is paid to thousands of service providers ranging from major medical centers to a physical therapist working with a child or adult with a developmental disability. The seven care divisions in FSSA administer services to more than 1.5 million Hoosiers. FSSA’s mission is to compassionately serve Hoosiers of all ages and connect them with social services, health care and their communities.
Your role as a Special Investigator serves in the Office of General Counsel / Compliance Division to investigate allegations of employee, client, and provider fraud within the FSSA. Our goal is to pursue administrative, civil, and criminal actions against those individuals who violate the program rules listed for specific agencies within the FSSA and those individuals who commit criminal offenses against the agencies within FSSA. This pursuit of administrative, civil, and criminal actions against those individuals violating program rules or committing criminal offenses establishes deterrents against other individuals who may attempt such, allows the agencies to develop guidelines to help deter individuals from committing such actions, allows for the recouping of funds taken from the FSSA by such actions, and allows for the disqualification of individuals from violated programs and possible criminal prosecution of such individuals, in this way, saving the state taxpayers’ monies, and securing the integrity of the programs. This role will be based in Seymour, IN and will cover the southern Indiana area as well as assist with cases in Marion County and south-central Indiana. Travel is required.
The ideal candidate would have extensive knowledge of the food stamp, Medicaid, TANF, and childcare development programs. Extensive knowledge of investigative principles; a working knowledge of Indiana Criminal Codes is preferred.
