Job summary

Qualifications

• Several years of practical technical experience in specialized fire protection environments.
• Experience with suppression systems and NFPA standards.
• NICET Special Hazards certification valued but not required.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel regionally and nationally (~25%).
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, and related engineering docs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate suppression hardware and system configurations through hands-on testing.
• Diagnose difficult equipment and application problems by recreating conditions and analyzing performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to strengthen reliability and system performance.
• Provide advanced technical guidance for clean-agent suppression applications involving cylinders, valves, piping, nozzles, detection, and controls.
• Assist with complex installations, commissioning, system testing, and troubleshooting in the field.
• Apply drawings, schematics, P&IDs, specs, and other technical information to guide decisions.
• Share technical expertise through training and direct support for technicians and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain clear documentation of findings and share insights with teams for future enhancements.

Focus:

• Evaluate suppression hardware and system configurations through hands‑on testing, then translate technical findings into practical recommendations.
• Diagnose difficult equipment and application problems by recreating conditions, analyzing performance, and determining the underlying cause.
• Work alongside engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to strengthen reliability, usability, and real‑world system performance.
• Provide advanced technical guidance for clean‑agent suppression applications involving cylinders, valves, piping, nozzles, detection equipment, controls, and related components.
• Assist with complex installations, commissioning, system testing, and troubleshooting when deeper technical expertise is required in the field.
• Apply drawings, schematics, P and IDs, specifications, and other technical information to guide troubleshooting and system decisions.
• Share technical expertise through training and direct support for technicians, customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain clear documentation of technical findings and share relevant insights with internal teams to help guide future enhancements.

Skill Set:

• Several years of practical technical experience within specialized fire protection environments, with direct exposure to advanced suppression systems strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with specialized fire protection solutions, particularly systems designed for environments requiring alternative suppression methods.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude involving piping, valves, cylinders, pressure testing, fire alarm and detection equipment, releasing controls, and related suppression hardware.
• Demonstrated experience with technical testing, troubleshooting, product validation, diagnostics, or root‑cause investigations.
• Comfort working with a variety of technical plans, diagrams, specifications, and related engineering documentation.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to discuss technical information clearly and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Knowledge of NFPA 2001, NFPA 72, UL, or FM requirements is preferred. NICET Special Hazards certification and relevant technical education are valued but not required.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel regionally and nationally up to approximately 25 percent.
