Description
GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the Director and in accordance with the Association policies set forth by the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, the Special Event Staff is responsible for leading preschool and school age children in recreational activities during special events such as birthday parties, holiday events, Parents' Night Out, Family Events, Youth Nights, and other single-event programs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Lead activities per provided lesson plan and supervisor direction.

  2. Create an environment that is welcoming and nurturing for all participants.

  3. Develop rapport and maintain effective relationships with program participants and their parents. Act as a positive role model using the YMCA's core values of honesty, caring, responsibility, and respect.

  4. Provide a safe environment for participants. Ensure program equipment and supplies are in good condition.

  5. Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Complete incident form when necessary.

  6. Distribute necessary program information and be knowledgeable of upcoming program sessions and other YMCA events.

  7. Attend and participate in required trainings and staff meetings.

  8. Responsible for strict adherence to all YMCA of Greater Waukesha County policies and procedures.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

  10. Employee is held responsible for all duties of the job.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  1. Must be at least 16 years of age.

  2. Previous experience working with preschool and school age children in a recreational setting.

  3. Ability to demonstrate and verbally articulate instructions and movements.

  4. Must be energetic and motivating.

  5. Strong oral communication skills required.
