Job description

Grand Targhee Resort is looking for a Special Events Manager to lead the planning and execution of our year-round special events. From ski, bike, and running races to music festivals, vendor activations, and community events, this role brings together the people, logistics, and details that create memorable experiences for our guests.

Our events range from intimate activations to large-scale events with up to 3,000 attendees. You'll work across the Resort—partnering closely with Marketing, Sales, Mountain Operations, vendors, sponsors, and other stakeholders to take events from initial concept through successful execution and post-event evaluation.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the planning and execution of winter and summer special events from concept through completion.
  • Coordinate event timelines, logistics, priorities, and communication across internal teams and external partners.
  • Develop detailed event plans and lead pre- and post-event meetings.
  • Manage and reconcile the annual event budget.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors, service providers, event partners, and sponsors.
  • Support contract negotiations and sponsorship outreach.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing events and create new experiences that engage our guests.
  • Proactively solve problems and adapt event plans as conditions and operational needs change.
  • Lead and support the Special Events Supervisor and additional event staff.
  • Manage multiple events and projects simultaneously while keeping deadlines and details on track.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of event management experience, including hands-on planning and execution.
  • Previous experience successfully managing direct reports.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to stay composed when plans change.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
  • Intermediate to expert skiing or snowboarding ability, with comfort navigating double-black-diamond terrain.
  • Experience or knowledge of ski racing, bike racing, crowd management, music production, course planning/set-up, or timing functions is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
The Environment

This isn’t an events job where you'll spend every day behind a desk. You'll work throughout the Resort at indoor and outdoor event venues in all seasons and weather conditions. Because our events happen when our guests are here, the position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule.

If you're an experienced event professional who loves bringing people together, solving problems, and seeing an event come to life from the first idea to the final breakdown, we'd love to hear from you.
