WAVE:Working Academically in a Visual Environment
This federal setting III program provides a structured educational environment for students who benefit from a predictable and individualized setting. WAVE students are typically more successful in smaller settings with a high staff-to-student ratio. WAVE provides a predictable, yet flexible learning environment designed to support students as they develop as whole individuals. WAVE students often have needs related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); however, they may have additional disabilities such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disabilities (LD), other neurological disorders, or mental health diagnoses (such as anxiety or depression).
Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every one of the qualifications as described in a job description.
