Job summary

The Lansing School District seeks a Testing Teacher Consultant to support the special education evaluation process by collaborating with school psychologists and school teams to complete initial and reevaluation REEDs, administer assessments, and monitor timelines.

The role emphasizes communicating with families, ensuring evaluations are thorough and compliant, and working with leadership to address at-risk learners and improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree and approval as a Teacher Consultant by the Michigan Department of Education.
• Experience supporting Special Education students.
• Ability to work with Lead and Classroom Teachers to address student behaviors and academics.
• Knowledge of child growth and development; familiarity with assessments and research related to learning.
• Understanding of rules and regulations regarding Child Study Teams and special education assessment requirements.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to relate to students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Strong English communication, both written and oral.
• Proficiency with word processing, data management, and presentations using electronic equipment.
• Willingness to attend staff meetings and participate on staff committees.
• Ability to conduct staff development sessions to improve competency.
• Ability to share resources with faculty, students, and families.
