Great Hearts Academies is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support K-5 students at Prairie View Lower School in Fort Worth, TX. The role works under certified Special Education and General Education teachers to assist in both general and resource settings.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be patient, and comfortable modifying materials to meet diverse learning needs. Prior experience in special education and familiarity with SDI concepts are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required.
• Associate's degree or higher preferred; AA 60 hours may be required in some locations.
• Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred; ParaPro proficiency beneficial.
• Experience in special education preferred; strong communication skills essential.

Responsabilités

• Assist students in small groups or 1:1, academic support.
• Help with assignments, homework, projects, and modifications.
• Reinforce classroom rules and SDI concepts; support behavior management.
• Assist with transitions, personal care, mobility, and adaptive equipment as needed.
• Provide clerical support for the ESS Team; attend meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Position Title: Special Education Teaching Assistant (K-5)Location: Great Hearts Prairie View Lower School (9001 NW Hwy 287Ft. Worth, TX 76131)Reports To: HeadmasterFLSA Status: Hourly, Non-ExemptThe Special Student Services - Teaching Assistant is a non-certified assistant to the Special Education Program at the academy for both general education and special education resource classrooms. The assistant will work to support students in all settings n campus under the direction of and in collaboration with the certified Special Education teachers and General Education teachers. Some locations (e.g. Title I schools) may require assistant teachers to have an AA, 60 hours of college credit, or be able to pass a ParaPro proficiency exam before beginning work.Required/Preferred Experience: Has experience in special education.Required/Preferred Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an interest in reading great books. Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred.Physical Functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.US Work Authorization required.Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.This description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions.
