Join Eden’s team as a Teaching Assistant, and work alongside some of the best teachers, therapists, support staff, and behavior analysts! Celebrating 50 years providing lifespan services for children and adults, Eden is a nationally recognized program specializing in the support of those with profound autism.
At Eden Autism Services, our Teaching Assistants are more than just classroom support. They educate, encourage, collaborate, and advocate. Under direct supervision of certified teachers, our Teaching Assistants implement instructional and behavior reduction programs for students with autism.
RESPONSIBILITY SNAPSHOT:
• Implementing IEP goals using ABA-based strategies. Contributing to the development of instructional and behavior management programs.
• Implementation of crisis management strategies and techniques to assist in managing challenging behaviors such as tantrums, self-injury, and/or aggression.
• Assist in arrival and dismissal of students; preparing lunches; tending to daily physical self-care needs of the students (i.e., toileting, dressing, showering, etc.).
• Collecting teaching and behavior management data and maintaining graphs for all programs. Quarterly progress reports with in-depth summaries of growth and problem areas.
• Attendance and participation in staff meetings and training sessions.
This is a full-time position - Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm.
Compensation starts at $16 per hour, dependent on Education and Experience levels.
LOCATION:
The Eden School is located at 2 Merwick Rd, Princeton, NJ.
MUST HAVES:
• Minimum of high school diploma
• Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in college program preferred
• Valid, unsuspended driver’s license is required
Physical Abilities:
• Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
• Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
• Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.
Skills & Knowledge:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, exercise independent judgement, and make appropriate decisions based on established policies and procedures.
