Job summary

Eden Autism Services in Princeton, NJ is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support students with autism under the supervision of certified teachers. The role emphasizes implementing IEPs with ABA strategies, data collection, and collaboration with teachers, therapists, and behavior analysts.

The position runs Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm, with compensation starting at $17.05 per hour and dependent on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma.
• Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in college program preferred.
• Valid, unsuspended driver’s license is required.
• Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Implement IEP goals using ABA-based strategies and contribute to instructional and behavior management programs.
• Implement crisis management strategies to assist in managing challenging behaviors such as tantrums, self-injury, and aggression.
• Assist in arrival and dismissal of students; prepare lunches; assist with daily self-care tasks (toileting, dressing, showering).
• Collect teaching and behavior data and maintain graphs; prepare quarterly progress reports with growth summaries.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Celebrating 50 years providing lifespan services for children and adults, Eden is a nationally recognized program specializing in the support of those with profound autism. At Eden Autism Services, our Teaching Assistants are more than just classroom support. They educate, encourage, collaborate, and advocate. Under direct supervision of certified teachers, our Teaching Assistants implement instructional and behavior reduction programs for students with autism.

RESPONSIBILITY SNAPSHOT

• Implementing IEP goals using ABA-based strategies. Contributing to the development of instructional and behavior management programs.
• Implementation of crisis management strategies and techniques to assist in managing challenging behaviors such as tantrums, self-injury, and/or aggression.
• Assist in arrival and dismissal of students; preparing lunches; tending to daily physical self-care needs of the students (i.e., toileting, dressing, showering, etc.).
• Collecting teaching and behavior management data and maintaining graphs for all programs. Quarterly progress reports with in-depth summaries of growth and problem areas.
• Attendance and participation in staff meetings and training sessions.

This is a full-time position

Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm.

Compensation starts at $17.05 per hour, dependent on Education and Experience levels.

MUST HAVES

• Minimum of high school diploma

Physical Abilities

• Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
• Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
• Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.

Skills & Knowledge

• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, exercise independent judgement, and make appropriate decisions based on established policies and procedures.
