Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is seeking a Special Education Teacher-Visual Impairment to join our team in an amazing school environment. You will develop and implement IEPs, collaborate with staff and families, and support students with visual impairments to reach their potential.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, AZ teaching licensure, and a Special Education certificate; experience with K-12 students and IEP processes is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Special Education Certificate (AZ DoE requirements).
  • Arizona Teaching Licensure.
  • Shall have specific certification where applicable - examples: Early Childhood Education Certificate, CC for Cross Category Specialists.
  • Shall have experience with IEP writing, meetings etc.
  • Experience working with K-12 children.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student in your care.
  • Communicate with other staff and family members about each student's progress and struggles.
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval.
  • Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school.
  • Use individualized reinforcement techniques to keep each student on the path toward greatness.
  • Invite family members to participate in each student's educational progress.
  • Create and distribute progress reports quarterly.
  • Confer with on-site therapist over disciplinary and behavioral issues with students.
  • Create a safe, productive classroom environment.

Special Education Teacher Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
