Job summary

Montrose Behavioral Hospital -Childrens and Teens is seeking a compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our multidisciplinary team. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education or related field eligible for teacher certification in the state.
One or more years' experience in Special Education or Alternative Education.
Knowledge of developmental stages and behaviors for the target age group.

Responsibilities

Identify educational needs and develop formal educational plans.
Create lesson plans and teach subject(s), including study and communication skills.
Observe students to evaluate abilities and areas for growth.
Teach and mentor students individually or in groups.
Communicate progress with family, counselors, and teachers.
Work with students to meet standardized testing requirements as needed.
Document plans, goals and progress according to facility and state guidelines.
Supervise classroom and maintain a positive learning environment.
Adhere to treatment plans and participate in team meetings.
Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and prioritize patient safety.
