Qualifications

  • T2EA certification accepted.

  • Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.
  • Understanding of IEPs and individualized instruction.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom activities.
  • Familiarity with adaptive technology and resources for students with visual impairments preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, teachers, therapists, and administrators.
  • Patient, flexible, and student-focused approach.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to create a safe, accessible, and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students identified with Visual Impairments (SK).
  • Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies based on student needs.
  • Follow and implement student IEPs and individualized educational goals.
  • Adapt instructional materials and classroom activities to meet the needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Monitor and document student academic and functional progress.
  • Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and functional skills.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, therapists, administrators, and other support personnel.
  • Assist with the appropriate use of adaptive materials, technology, and instructional resources.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and educational needs.
  • Maintain accurate student records and required special education documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other student support meetings as required.
  • Provide consultation and support to school staff regarding strategies for working with students with visual impairments.
  • Create a safe, accessible, and inclusive learning environment.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher – Visually Impaired to provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
