Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Louisiana Teacher's certificate in the area of Visually Impaired.
• Proficiency in general computer use, email, and other job-specific software and equipment.
• Experience verifications must be received in the Office of Human Resources within the first 6 months of employment to be eligible for retroactive payment.

Responsibilities

• provides direct instruction on a part-time basis in academic areas to visually impaired students enrolled in regular classes and self-contained classes of other exceptionalities
• provides supplementary teaching materials to the classroom teacher
• serves as liaison between the school and the home for the visually impaired students
• Secures large print and/or braille textbooks and other instructional materials
• consults with classroom teachers and others serving visually impaired students
• arranges for and schedules periodic evaluations of visually impaired students
