Position Overview

We are hiring a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead a Special Day Class (SDC) for students with Mild/Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) in Antioch, CA. In this role, you will deliver individualized instruction, provide behavioral and academic support, and cultivate a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs


• Provide instruction aligned with Common Core Standards in a self-contained classroom


• Utilize evidence-based instructional methods and positive behavioral strategies


• Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, service providers, and paraeducators


• Track and analyze student progress to drive instructional decisions


• Lead IEP meetings and maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws


• Build and maintain an inclusive classroom culture that supports emotional and academic growth


• Maintain consistent communication with families to strengthen school-home partnerships

Qualifications – Required

• Valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate or MMSN)


• CLAD or English Learner Authorization


• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field

Preferred

• Master’s degree in Special Education


• Experience teaching in self-contained SDC settings


• Familiarity with behavior intervention plans and assistive technology tools
