Job description

Certified Special Education Teacher, Science - Online Campus - 25/26 School Year

Although this is a remote position, candidates must reside in Arizona and be able to come onsite to our Phoenix Online School Office two times per month for meetings and professional development.

Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Director, the Certified Special Education Science Teacher will manage a caseload of middle school or high school students in a virtual classroom environment. This role includes lesson planning, direct science instruction, IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and data-driven decision-making to support academic and functional outcomes.

We are currently hiring for both:

  • Middle School Science SPED Teacher
  • High School Science SPED Teacher

Candidates with teaching certification and experience are preferred with a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The Certified teacher will support a caseload of students and work on a team to implement a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and students with other related disorders in the online learning environment.

Duties:

  • Engagement and oversight of staff and student caseload in the AZACS online classroom learning environment
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated science instruction in a virtual setting
  • Provide instructional support for students in the classroom
  • Weekly lesson planning using curriculum resources for students in the AZACS Academic Program
  • Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
  • Ongoing Student and Parent communication
  • Modify science materials and instructional strategies to meet diverse needs
  • Modification of materials for classrooms as needed
  • Structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
  • Staff communication/feedback
  • Maintain substitute plans in case of absence
  • Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
  • Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for caseload and attend all required student meetings
  • Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
  • Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered a job expectation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities in a classroom learning environment
  • At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred

Required:

  • Must be an Arizona Resident
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
  • Experience teaching science
  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Light Work:

Working Conditions:

Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
