Job Title:Special Education Teacher – Resource Specialist Program (RSP)

Position Summary

The Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Teacher provides specialized academic instruction and support services to students with disabilities who are enrolled in general education classes for the majority of the school day. The RSP Teacher works collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administrators to ensure students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) receive the accommodations, modifications, and specialized instruction necessary to access grade-level curriculum and make meaningful progress toward their goals.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Support

• Provide specialized academic instruction to students with IEPs, individually and in small groups, in core subject areas (reading, writing, math) based on identified needs.
• Implement accommodations and modifications in collaboration with general education teachers to support student access to the core curriculum.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals using data-driven methods.
• Provide push-in and/or pull-out services as specified in each student’s IEP.

IEP Development & Compliance

• Write, review, and update IEPs in accordance with federal (IDEA) and state special education regulations and timelines.
• Conduct or coordinate assessments to determine eligibility and present levels of performance.
• Serve as case manager for an assigned caseload of students, ensuring compliance with all IEP timelines, including annual reviews and triennial evaluations.
• Facilitate and lead IEP meetings, communicating clearly with parents/guardians, students, and staff.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid state teaching credential/license authorizing service as a Special Education Teacher (e.g., Education Specialist Credential, Mild/Moderate or Mild/Moderate-to-Extensive, as applicable).
• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and state special education regulations.
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, specialized academic instruction, and IEP development.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
