Rite of Passage is hiring a Teacher for Uta Halee Academy in Omaha, Nebraska. The role focuses on delivering educational services within a residential program for young women, emphasizing positive organizational culture and collaborative staff support.

Requirements include Nebraska K-12 Special Education credential, a Bachelor's in Education, and 3+ years of classroom teaching. A driver's license is required; additional math/science credentials are preferred.

  • Three or more years of successful classroom teaching.
  • Related experience with at-risk youth ages 13-17.
  • Pass criminal background check, drug screen, physical, TB test, and child abuse registry search.
  • Preferred multiple credentials in Math and Science.

Responsibilities

Uta Halee Academy (UHA) is a female-specific, residential program that offers young women opportunities to build productive and meaningful futures for themselves and their communities. Through rigorous education, positive skill development, and individualized therapeutic interventions and treatment, we empower youth to reach their full potential. The facility features residential student dormitories, on-site schooling, a dining hall, and extracurricular opportunities for the students. Pay: Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of teaching experience who are hired to teach Special Education or hold Multi-Subject Credentials are eligible for a starting rate of $23.08. (Please note that candidates with more experience and multi-subject credentials have a higher starting salary rate.) The starting rate is $25.96 for those with a Master’s degree and 1 year of teaching experience and who are hired to teach Special Education or Multi-Subject Credentials.(Please note that candidates with more experience and multi-subject credentials have a higher starting rate.)

What you will do: Serve as a member of the Education Department. Primarily responsible for implementing and adhering to the principles of Positive Organizational Culture and providing instructional services to students. Work collaboratively with staff in a supportive fashion, emphasizing a positive attitude toward students, staff, and program.

To be considered, you should: Be at least 21 years of age; possess a current and valid Nebraska teaching credential in Special Education K-12. Preferred multiple credentials in Math and Science. Bachelor's degree in the Education field from an accredited college or university. Have three or more years of successful classroom teaching. Have related experience working with at-risk youth ages 13-17. Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test. Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry.

Schedule: 2-3 days per week, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

  • Uta Halee is a Nebraska Rule 13 (Exempt School). We follow OPS guidelines as closely as possible regarding school breaks and teacher planning days throughout the year. The school year runs from August to June.
