Multi-categorical programs at the secondary level provide specialized instruction and support for students with various disabilities who receive academic and functional instruction through a modified curriculum. Some but not all of the students served in these programs follow the South Carolina High School Credential course of study. Additional specialized instruction and support may be required in the areas of functional needs, behavioral intervention, and/or social-emotional instruction and support. Teachers accepting positions in Multi-categorical programs must become certified in CPI and follow all district procedures related to the use of CPI techniques. Requires supervision and proper utilization of one or more teaching assistants.
