The State of Michigan is seeking a Special Education Teacher to coordinate and deliver educational services to eligible students within a secure institution. The role involves teaching essential skills and managing resources effectively. This position coordinates the delivery of special education services, resources, schedules, and reports for eligible students. It also involves teaching reading, math, and writing skills to ABE/GED students. The work location is inside a secure, multi-level institution, requiring daily interaction with prisoners of all custody levels. This is a covered position and may involve duties at multiple facilities with varying hours and days.
Possession of a bachelor's degree in special education or a related K-12 education field.
No specific experience is required.
Possession of a current Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent) with a special education endorsement in areas such as autism, cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, learning disabilities, physical education for students with disabilities, physical or health impairment, speech and language impairment, or visual impairment.

Training: New hires and returning employees after more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET), which includes 40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their role, followed by online training modules.
