Job summary

Cross Country Education seeks a compassionate Moderate/Severe Special Education Teacher for a Manhattan Beach, CA classroom. You will deliver specialized instruction in a TK–5 SDC, focusing on functional academics, communication, and life-skills support tailored to each student’s needs.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with authorization in Moderate/Severe Disabilities or ESN.
• Experience with moderate to severe disabilities in SDC or similar setting, including functional academics and life-skills instruction.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

• Provide specialized instruction in a Moderate/Severe Special Day Class (SDC) setting for students in TK–5, focusing on functional academics, communication, life skills, and independence.
• Develop and implement highly individualized, modified curriculum and instructional plans based on each student’s unique learning and support needs.
• Conduct assessments, monitor student progress, and develop and implement IEPs, including participation in IEP meetings and collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Create a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement, communication, independence, and successful participation in school routines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field preferred
• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with authorization in Moderate/Severe Disabilities or Extensive Support Needs (ESN)
• Experience supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities in an SDC or similarly intensive special education setting, including functional academics, communication, and adaptive/life-skills instruction
